Kalymnos belongs to the Dodecanese that is situated in the southeast of Greece in the Aegean Sea. The name says twelve islands, but it is a group of over 50 islands. Well-known islands in this area are Rhodes, Kos and Karpathos.
On the islands of the Dodecanese you will find a lot of agricultural products like olives, grapes, oranges and vegetables. Toursim is significant for the islands during the summer.
Kalymnos is a small island, covering a surface 111 km2. It has an irregular coastline with many caves and lovely small beaches.
The island is widely known as the sponge-divers' island, since such a large portion of the population is engaged in this ages-old occupation.
During the whole year people are welcome to visit Kalymnos, because there are no hard winters and in summer there is a lot of sun.
