Minimum rental time

The minimum rental time of a vehicle is one day.
The day starts from 9 am until 9 am the next morning.

Age of Driver

The minimum driver age is 21 years.
The maximum driver age is 75 years.

Driver’s License

The driver’s driving license must have been issued at least three years ago. If the driver comes from a country outside of the European Union, an international driving license may be requested.

Payment methods

The rental amount is paid in advance upon delivery of the vehicle either in cash or by credit or debit card.

Vehicle usage

Vehicles are prohibited from being driven on unpaved roads. In the event of a breach of this condition the customer is responsible for repairing any damage found to the vehicle’s underbody, wheels and tyres, plus the cost of replacing any filters and special cleaning.

Vehicle delivery

Upon delivery of the vehicle, the renter should make sure that any damages or deficiencies of the vehicle are detailed in the rental contract. Upon return, you will be solely responsible for any damages or deficiencies not listed in the rental agreement.

Vehicle return

The vehicle is returned to the office from which it was collected unless another place of return is indicated in the rental contract. If the renter is late in returning the vehicle, an extra day will be charged. In case you wish to return the vehicle to another station, please inform us as soon as possible. The renter is charged €15 for cleaning the vehicle if it is excessively (unusually) dirty upon return.

Early return

The duration of the rental begins and ends according to the detailed dates and times of delivery and collection indicated in the contract. Refunds are not given in case of late pickup, early return or unused days.

Vehicle breakdown

In case of breakdown or technical problem please call the support line. We will send a representative to assess the problem as soon as possible. If the damage cannot be repaired immediately, we will replace the vehicle for you. If we determine that the technical issue has resulted from abuse or non-compliance with the terms and conditions, we reserve the right to take the vehicle back without replacement and charge you for the damage.

Pick up/Delivery outside opening hours

Our opening hours are:
Main office MASOYRI 01: Monday to Sunday 08:30 – 12:30 & 17:30 – 20:30
Office – MASOYRI 02: Monday to Sunday 08:30 – 13:00 & 17:00 – 20:30
Office – MYRTIES: Monday to Sunday 08:30 – 12:30 & 17:30 – 20:30

Fuel policy

The vehicle must be returned with the same amount of fuel delivered as stated in the contract. There is no refund for extra fuel in the tank.

Vehicle categories

Each vehicle category consists of different models with similar characteristics. We cannot guarantee that you will receive the exact make, model or color you have requested. However, we guarantee that you will receive a vehicle of the category you booked, or if there is no availability in the selected category, a higher one.

Violations of the Traffic Code.

All fines and consequences from traffic violations are the responsibility of the renter.

Transfer by Ferry-Boat

It is expressly forbidden to transport the vehicle to another island by sea without our prior information and written permission.

Pet Policy

Upon request, we allow you to transport your pet in the rental vehicle at no extra charge with the basic condition that your pet will be kept in a cage or special box at all times. For reasons of hygiene, the vehicle must be returned to its original condition and in case biological cleaning is required, the renter is charged a fee of €40.

Mileage limitation

There is no mileage restriction.

Keys policy

Keys and locks are not covered by FDW. The renter is responsible for the cost of replacing and repairing the keys and the lock.

Infant/child seats

Child seats and boosters are available free of charge.

In the event of an accident, the tenant must immediately:

• notify the head office of Alfa Kalymnos Rent.
• not to acknowledge fault or guilt and third party claims in any way, direct or indirect.
• report the accident to the police and make an accident report.
• collect names, addresses and telephone numbers of those involved in the accident.
• not to move the vehicle before the traffic police and/or the company representative arrive at the scene of the accident.

INSURANCES

Collision Damage Waiver (CDW)

The rental prices of a vehicle include the following insurance coverages:

1. Civil liability, bodily injuries to third parties per victim: €1,300,000.00.
2. Civil liability, material damage to third parties per incident €1,300,000.00.
3. Driver injury accident up to €5,000.00.
4. Material damage from an uninsured vehicle €6,000.00

If in an accident the renter of the vehicle is responsible for the accident, he participates in the restoration of the damage to the company’s vehicle with the following amounts:

• For car categories A,B,C & F the excess amount is 700€
• For car categories D & G the excess amount is 1000€
• For scooter categories A & B the excess amount is 1000€
• For scooter categories C & D the excess amount is 2000€

Full Damage Waiver (FDW)

The renter can waive or reduce the above amounts if he agrees at the time of signing the rental contract to receive a mixed security with a waiver (FDW) and to pay the following amounts for each rental day:

• For car categories A,B,C & F 12,00€/day with 0€ excess amount
• For car categories D & G 15,00€/day with 0€ excess amount
• For scooter categories A & B 6,00€/day with excess amount 50€
• For scooter categories C & D 6,00€/day with excess amount 100€

Minimum rental period for exemption is three (3) days.

Insurance coverage for damage to the wheels, tires, windows and underbody of the vehicle

The renter is solely responsible for damage to the wheels, tires, windows and underbody of the vehicle. He is released from the above responsibility if he receives the FDW insurance upon signing the rental contract:

* Please note that Alfa Kalymnos Rent and its partner insurance companies do not accept responsibility for loss, theft or damage of personal items inside the vehicle.

In which case the above does not apply

The renter is responsible for compensation and repair of all damages caused to a vehicle if it is proven that:

1. He/She was driving the vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
2. After an accident he did not stop and take the necessary actions, such as notifying Alfa Kalymnos Rent, the Traffic Police, getting names and addresses of those involved in the accident, as well as not moving the vehicle from the place where the accident occurred before the traffic police and/or a representative of the company arrived at the scene of the accident.
3. He used the vehicle for improper and illegal purposes, e.g. smuggling, theft, illegal transportation of objects and goods.
4. He drove the vehicle overloaded, e.g. while there are seat belts for four people, there were five people in the vehicle.
5. The vehicle was driven by someone whose name was not written on the rental agreement.
6. He used the vehicle for any kind of racing or competition.
7. He drove the vehicle on unauthorized roads such as beaches, unsuitable roads, mountains, etc.
8. He was driving the vehicle without complying with the road traffic code, e.g. violation of traffic lights, the STOP sign, speed limit, entering the opposite stream, etc.
